SPY Museum: Spies & Spymasters Virtual Happy Hour Recording

Spies & Spymasters Virtual Happy Hour Recording

We love sorting out fact and fiction in spy movies at the Spy Museum. But how about when Hollywood stars are the spies? Join us tonight for some unusual celebrity gossip at this virtual happy hour! We’ll tell you some of our favorite stories about operatives who loved the limelight more than the shadows—your mission: shake up the perfect cocktail or mocktail.

Owner Hilarey from Lost & Found will be shaking up a cocktail worthy of cinema’s golden age—with a drink that will be even better than popcorn and candy—while we supply some thrilling tales. (Recipe below)

Your favorite Happy Hour Hosts: Amanda Ohlke, Shana Oltmans, and Hannah Saloio will give you a whirlwind visit to the corner of Hollywood and Spy. From John Ford’s Oscar-winning work to Marlene Dietrich’s sultry propaganda song to Sterling Hayden’s mysterious WWII activities.

Then superstar Spy Museum Advisory Board Member Jonna Mendez will give us the inside story on her Hollywood experiences: from working with special effects artists to advising on films to walking the red carpet with her husband Tony Mendez. Imagine Ben Affleck playing your husband! That’s what happened with the award-winning film Argo. We still haven’t decided who is worthy to play Jonna!

You’re welcome to ask questions after the talk—whether they relate to Jonna’s Hollywood connections or old time movie star spies!

This occasion calls for a truly glamorous drink, the French 75:

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 oz dry gin
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Dash of simple syrup
  • 5 oz chilled dry sparkling wine
  • Lemon Rid

Put ice, gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup in a shaker. Shake well. Strain over a champagne flute. Top with sparkling wine and garnish with a lemon rind twist.
